Kouzou is an older man with neck-length dark-brown hair that has bangs swept on either side, dark-colored eyes, a scraggly mustache and stubbled chin.
Kouzou is a serious and strict man, but he can be caring when it comes to Nozomi Onda and his views on physicality can be considered sexist (characterized by or showing prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women, on the basis of sex).
Kouzou is the coach of the Fuji Daiichi Boys football team. As coach, he makes the calls. He banned Nozomi Onda from playing in official matches after she got injured in an official match. Once he realized that Onda was in the newcomer's tourney, he allowed her to stay he could see what she can do. Kouzou admits that he was wrong about Nozomi and thinks that she can do great in girls' football.
Kouzou appears in a flashback talking to Nozomi Onda about girls soccer and he convinces her to go find a girls' soccer team.
Kouzou saw talent in Nozomi and he didn't let her play with the Fuji Boys Soccer Team because he was worried about the physical differences between her and the boys.
